Jaguar hasn’t been doing too well with its recent cars. The car market has been hurting in general and Jaguar’s line-up featured nothing new or exciting. But this all changes with Jaguar’s flagship vehicle receiving a complete redo inside and outside.

This four door sedan is accented by sweet 20″ rims and has a big supercharged V-8 engine from which it gets all of its power.

Buying Vehicles At Public Automobile Auctions

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Automobiles are still important in this day and age, and thousands of vehicles are bought every day, whether at the local car shop or at public automobile auctions. If you are looking for cars, then perhaps public automobile auctions can help you get the vehicle you need.

What kinds of vehicles are sold at public automobile auctions?

- Off-lease vehicles, or vehicles returned to a financial institution after their lease has ended, are commonly offered up for bid at public automobile auctions. However, due to the large volume of such vehicles, private auctions tend to feature them more often than not.

- Car rental companies tend to dispose of their cars after some time, since these cars can suffer wear and tear due to constant use. These off-rental vehicles are then sold at public automobile auctions. Because of the care exercised by these companies, such off-rental vehicles will often be in very good condition, and will not have been on the road for more than a year.

- Companies will often replace their company cars or fleet cars after some time, while those that have already been used will be up for bid at public automobile auctions. Compared with the volume of cars from car rental companies, such cars will be of a wider range, and public automobile auctions of such batches will have a large variety of vehicles, from luxury sedans to even a worn out delivery truck.

- Repossessed vehicles are often sold at public automobile auctions because these are the easiest methods by which local banks can still stand to gain from them. Such vehicles, however, may not be in optimum shape, so care must be taken before bidding for them at public automobile auctions.

- Cars that were traded in, but did not meet the trader’s standards, can also be sold at public automobile auctions. The variety of such cars will be wider, and their warranties will differ depending on their initial state.

Before you engage in bidding at public automobile auctions, take note of these facts about such events.

- The prices of such vehicles can be much, much lower at auctions than they will be on a dealer’s lot. This, of course, will depend on the tastes and budgets of fellow bidders, but because the cars being dealt with are not brand new, prices will be of a much lower range.

- Some off-lease vehicles may be sold just before the expiration of their factory warranty. Take care when bidding for such vehicles, because you may have little time to spare to have any repairs made.

- Repossessed vehicles can present more a hazard than advantage, especially if the previous owners did not take care of the car. Such vehicles may often earn you more if you sell them to junk shops, as they may not function properly. Moreover, not all previous owners are angels: some may have sabotaged their cars without the dealer knowing, so take extra care when bidding on such cars.

- As when buying all other cars, take note of the fine print and terms and conditions of the public automobile auctions you will be bidding at. There may be hidden fees and missing warranties that will work to your disadvantage.

Public automobile auctions can be great places to buy your vehicle, but remember these advantages and disadvantages well, and you may soon find yourself the owner of the vehicle of your dreams – and at a good price as well.

4 Ways To Increase Automotive Performance

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

In these days of high gasoline prices, it may seem ridiculous to consider ways to increase your car’s performance as they are almost always associated with increased fuel consumption. However, there are four ways to increase performance that do not have to negatively impact your gas mileage. Let’s take a closer look at each one.

1. Reusable Air Filters. Landfills are stuffed with items we use once and then throw out. Auto air filters are one such item and through the life of a car you can go through 6-12 of them with no problem. For approximately three times the price, washable and reusable air filters are a great alternative. When you purchase one it likely will be the last air filter your car will ever need. Reusable air filters enable you to gain slight increases in horsepower and acceleration as well as to impact the environment in a positive way.

2. Performance Chips. All new cars are operated by a computer chip that tells how much torque and horsepower can be displaced. Performance chips or recalibrations of your current chip can produce significant increases in horsepower and torque for your vehicle.

3. Performance Exhaust Systems. Cat-back or “catalyst-back exhaust systems” are a great way to free up trapped torque and to unleash horsepower. Keeping all the important emissions parts in place, a cat-back system incorporates large width exhaust pipes and low restriction performance mufflers into your car thereby lowering exhaust back pressure. A side benefit is the really awesome sound emitting from the exhaust system.

4. Cold Air Intake. A cold air intake is an under the hood mod that helps to reduce the temperature of the air entering the car for the sole purpose of increasing the power of the engine. Side benefits include enhancements to the appearance of the engine bay as this part can be attractive and colorful; the sound the unit makes is also appealing.

Costs for each of these performance enhancements can vary greatly. Shopping online with a trusted wholesaler is one of the best ways to find top quality parts at the lowest possible prices. By doing the work yourself, you can save a bundle and enjoy the fruits of your labor in no time.

Mexican Automotive Marketplace: Passenger Autos

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Having a populaton of about 105 mio. inhabitants, Mexico may be the 2nd biggest market in Latin America, after Brazil, and one from the largest markets worldwide. Mexico has managed a development of its economy which these days is known as the Mexican miracle. With a GDP per capita of 8343 USD and typical monthly wages of 581 USD, Mexico has a good placement among emerging economies.

Mexico includes a longstanding tradtion of vehicle manufacturing. As early as 1930, cars (GM) were assembled in Mexico. Mexico has no own OEM, although some automobiles are almost seen as nearby. These days, with about 2 mio. passenger vehicle manufactured each and every year, Mexico is one of the best vehicle manufacturing places worldwide.

Mexico passenger car marketplace is characterized through a large, illegal inflow of used automobiles from the U.S. into Mexico. With closer ties of the Mexican using the U.S. economy, many automobiles are bought within the U.S. and brought to Mexico by individuals who never register these automobiles. Using the opening of utilized car imports from the U.S. and Canada which was reversed beginning of 2008, the influx increased further. The imports primarily happen within the Northern regions of Mexico. The new vehicle market suffered from the inflow of utilized automobiles and declined over the last many years. Starting from 2007, we expect a turnaround from the new vehicle marketplace, but not a fast improve. Although the wealth from the population is growing, the average Mexican still can not pay for a brand new vehicle and also the economic success can hardly make up for that negative effect of the used vehicle imports.

With offical used vehicle imports being equal in numbers to new vehicle sales, the Mexican vehicle parc is increasing quick, but more than 1 mio. from 2006 to 2007 and further on for that next years. Because a major share of the increase originates from utilized automobiles, there is an instant effect on the aftermarket. Although for very cheap cars imported from the U.S. Mexican consumers won’t be prepared to invest substantial quantities of cash for vehicle service, but for higher-value imports they will. The growing wealth of Mexican buyers particularly influences the behaviour regarding vehicle support. We anticipate the aftermarket (sale of components) to grow at nearly 6% annually at constant costs more than the following many years.

The distribution system for spare components is about to organize, with nevertheless very few players acting on the really national degree. Also, chain constructing in the components shop and the service stations segment, although it began currently, still has a tremendous potential.

Financing of automobiles is broadly used but there is still growth possible. With the average Mexican wages growing further, financing is the only choice for numerous Mexican to buy a brand new vehicle.

Customized And Luxurious Cars

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

If you tell me you’ve never dreamt of a car that has much to say when seen, then you are lying. Don’t think only of new line cars that are a true work of art as they come. I am also referring to cars that used to be junks; them were bought by a customizing store and rebuilt from scratch. These are the cars you see on Discovery or MTV, in car shows, cars that have huge engines or extraordinary paint art.

These cars usually sell in auctions, because sellers want to show them off and see how much people appreciate their work. Prices vary a lot, and in this case they are not based as much on quality as they are on reputation. But not only famous car customizers sell their cars in auctions. There are plenty other car workshops that produce excellent customizing around the world. And cars that come from these small workshops are equally glamorous as famous cars personalized by famous names in the business, even if the number sold in one year is very low.

Luxurious car auctions are usually held for the purpose of attracting rich customers who won’t be watching a car’s real value, but it’s performance and looks. You can find all about location, duration and emplacement of these auctions by simply browsing the net, as it is now the most resourceful media type. If you find a car auction like this near your location, then you definitely check it out.

It’s a high change the event will also attract small workshops that will sell their equally flawless cars at very low prices compared to famous producers. And the best thing about these cars is that they won’t be an interest point for those who came ready to buy themselves cars that cost hundreds of thousands, simply because those people only bid on cars developed by well-known workshops. You can also orientate towards luxurious cars sold by individuals, like used Chrysler imperial and this cars will also don’t offer much concurrency, so there’s a good chance of getting a good price.

It’s worth the chance to place a bid on a superb car, you might be even buying it for the price of a second hand one. Going to luxury car auctions might pay up even with a splendid strong and beautiful car, for a very low price, a car that can make your teenage speed dreams come true.

Information On Fuel Delivery Systems

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Knowledge about the inner workings of the cars we drive on a daily basis it not typically high on our list of priorities. Of course, while it is not mandatory to know about the nuts and bolts of your car, a little knowledge can help you avoid some future expenses for repairs, maintenance and fuel costs. With an eye towards building that knowledge, let’s take a look at how a car’s fuel delivery system works. We are going to move through the fuel delivery system of the car beginning with the fuel tank. Fuel starts at the pump hose where you purchase it and enters the tank where it remains until called into use to be sent to the engine. Fuel tanks vary in size with the type of vehicle but they all function identically. The fuel pump which is a vital part of the fuel system is located int he gas tank. This device looks like a pole stuck to a platform, and the platform is a fuel filter. The importance of the pump is evident by the job it performs of pulling the fuel up through the filter and into the tube which leads to the line that sends the gasoline to the engine. When the gasoline comes through the fuel line into the engine, it runs through another fuel filter. These filters are removing harmful debris and particles that will cause your engine to run less efficiently. The more filters in your system, the better your engine will run. After this second filter, the gasoline is pushed through a fuel rail, across the top of the engine, and down into the fuel injectors. The injectors spray it into the combustion chamber where the real action is. The above references the internal combustion engine which has remained nearly the same for the past 40 years. This is one area of the vehicle that was done correctly the first time. While the filters have been improved and the fuel flow has been altered to allow a computer to increase the overall efficiency, it has generally not changed. Now that you understand more about the fuel delivery system of your vehicle, why not learn more about your vehicle – like how tire pressure effects driving or how the various systems in the car are connected?

Pedestrian Safety Threatened By Quiet Cars

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

You would think that quiet cars would be welcome on any street, but some pedestrians may be thinking otherwise.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that hybrid cars have a much higher rate of pedestrian-involved accidents than other vehicles. At the SAE World Congress, David Strickland, chief of NHTSA, remarked, “Our analysis of limited data from 12 states shows that hybrid electric cars do have a significantly higher incidence rate of pedestrian crashes than internal combustion engines for certain maneuvers — like slowing or stopping, backing up, entering or leaving a parking space, and making a turn.”

Two automobile manufacturer organizations, AAM and AIAM, have teamed up with two organizations for the blind, ACB and NFB, to send a letter to Congress today stating their support for legislation that requires future hybrid cars to create artificial sounds when moving at low speeds. This proposal could become part of the Motor Safety Act of 2010, a bill now moving through Congress.

Under this proposed law, the alert sounds cannot be customized as if they were cell phone ringtones. Instead, the sound options would be provided by the vehicle manufacturers and activate automatically at lower speeds. The sounds will most likely mimic the engine noises of louder vehicles. Vehicles will not require artificial sounds at higher speeds.

If these proposals go into effect, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) must begin writing legislation within 18 months and finalize the law within three years. The NHTSA would be responsible for setting the minimal noise level a vehicle would have to make at lower speeds.

These safety regulations would benefit all pedestrians, not just the deaf and hard of hearing. Sighted pedestrians such as small children and bike riders were also targeted by this proposed law.

Not everyone would be thrilled by such a law—one of the many benefits of a hybrid eleectric car is its quiet performance, and the addition of artificial sounds would be unappealing to some drivers.

Drivers aren’t the only ones who wouldn’t be thrilled. The organization NoiseOFF writes on their website, “The NFB (National Federation for the Blind) is using money and political clout to increase noise pollution levels and adversely affect millions of people in the name of pedestrian safety” and that an alternative solution would be to give receiver devices to the blind that will alert them when a hybrid is near. The downside to this alternative is that it does nothing to protect sighted pedestrians and blind pedestrians must carry them around all the time.

Still, this law will make roads far safer for pedestrians, and to many the benefits outweigh the consequences.
